Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Witness license shows the usage is greater than the capacity using the embedded license. (Oversubscribed vSAN witness license).

Environment

VMware vSAN 6.x
VMware vSAN 7.0.x

Cause

• This happens if more than one witness appliance of the same version is deployed in vCenter 
• The witness licenses are embedded and part of the OVF/OVA template the witness is deployed from.
• Oversubscription is expected for this license, however should work without issue.

Resolution

This is expected behavior and can be safely ignored for versions below 7.0U1.
7.0U1 and higher can use a feature called shared witness, only for 2-node clusters. More information on this can be found at the below links.
