Resolution

Q: What does the ESA prescriptive disk claim check do?

Disks will be claimed automatically based on the ESA prescriptive disk claim specs. This check detects if the claimed disks are compliant with the specifications or not.

Q: What does it mean when it is in a warning state?

There are 2 possible reasons as below.

  1. The claimed disks are not compliant with the ESA prescriptive disk claim specs. The claimed disk number, disk model, vendor, capacity, or name is not compliant with the ESA prescriptive disk claim specs.

  2. Hosts have additional storage pool disks. The host meets the desired state spec configuration, however, it has additional storage pool disks.

Q: How does one troubleshoot and fix the warning state?

The health warning can be resolved by updating the ESA prescriptive disk claim specs or adding/removing disks into/from the storage pool via Disk Management View to satisfy the prescribed disk claim configuration.
