Issue/Introduction

To support vMotion, each ESXi host in a vSAN cluster must have a VMkernel adapter configured for vMotion traffic.

If the VMkernel Adapter vMotion Configuration Check fails, it indicates that at least one of the ESXi hosts in the cluster does not have a VMkernel adapter configured for vMotion traffic.

Environment

VMware vSAN 6.x

Resolution

Ensure that each ESXi host participating in the cluster has a VMkernel adapter enabled for vMotion traffic.

  1. In the vSphere Web Client, navigate to the host.
  2. On the Configure tab, expand Networking and select VMkernel adapters.
  3. Verify that at least one VMkernel adapter is enabled for vMotion and vMotion appears in the Network Label column.
  4. If you need to enable vMotion, select the VMkernel adapter, click Edit, and select vMotion on the Edit Setting dialog box.
