Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Deploying an OVF to a vSAN cluster fails with:
    the operation is not allowed in the current state
  • Cluster task has the following:
    Call DRS for cross vmotion placement recommendations


Environment

VMware vSAN 6.x

Cause

This is caused because the OVF template with Storage Policy requires the cluster DRS-enabled. So, the deployment process fails to find a target datastore corresponding to the Storage Policy in OVF.

Resolution

Ensure you have an Enterprise license or higher
Enable DRS
