VMware vSAN

Issue/Introduction

  • The health check reports that the option LSOM.blPLOGCacheLines is not set to the same value on all nodes in a stretch cluster.
  • The error shows the hosts with a value of 16384 and the witness set to 131072.
  • All hosts including the witness are running the same build of ESXi.
  • All hosts including the witness are NOT running the same build of ESXi

Environment

vSAN 7.x

Resolution

Verify the vSAN hosts and witness are running the same vSphere ESXi version

  • If the hosts are not running the same version, upgrade all hosts including witness to be on the same build of ESXi.
  • If all hosts are on the same ESXi version, use the following command to edit the value of this option on each impacted host.

esxcfg-advcfg -s 131072 /LSOM/blPLOGCacheLines

Note: For vSAN to run optimally it's imperative for all hosts in the cluster to be running the same ESXi version, so the hosts in the cluster are running mixed versions then upgrade the cluster to the highest running version in the cluster at minimum. Or feel free to upgrade the cluster to the highest version in the family of code the cluster is currently running.
