Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • High CPU usage on vCenter up to 100%.
  • Checking top command shows vSphere-UI service using high % of CPU.
  • Reboot resolves the issue for sometime.
  • vSphere Replication is configured with the vCenter.


Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0
VMware vSphere Replication 8.x

Cause

Multiple VR requests to vCenter, that are not actively in use causing vSphere UI memory usage and CPU usage to increase. 

Resolution

Update vSphere Replication to version 8.7.

Workaround:
Rebooting the vCenter resolves the issue for sometime.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
vCenter is extremely slow and cannot be used to manage ESXi hosts and VMs and hence causes a production impact.
