Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • The affected virtual machines are using a virtual NVMe controller.
  • When clicking on the virtual machine and browsing to "VM > Monitor > vSAN > Performance" and open the menu "Virtual Disks", the page will remain empty. (The loading animation will disappear.)

Environment

VMware vSAN 6.x
VMware vSAN 8.0.x
VMware vSAN 7.0.x

Cause

When retrieving the virtual disks statistics from the vCenter API, the API call will return an empty result when a virtual NVMe controller is used. As this reply is not expected from the Web-UI of vCenter, a JavaScript error will occur and the page will remain empty.

Resolution

Engineering is working on NVMe controller support for this performance menu in a future release. You can subscribe to this KB article to be automatically updated on any changes.

Workaround:
As an interim workaround of the empty page, a newer release after vCenter 8.0 Update 2 will display an error when a virtual NVMe controller is used.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
There is no functional impact to the virtual machine.
