Issue/Introduction

While configuring a cluster image in vSphere Client. you try to add a vendor addon.
However, when selecting the addon, you find that its latest version is not available for selection.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Cause

This can happen when the latest version(s) of the vendor addon haven't yet been added to the VMware download sources.

Resolution

To fix this issue, you can manually import the vendor addon into the local Lifecycle Manager repository.

To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Download the latest vendor addon from the customer connect portal:
  1. In the Lifecycle Manager Page in vSphere Client, click on ACTIONS and select "Import Updates":
  1. Select the Zip file downloaded in step 1 in you filesystem, then click on [IMPORT] to import the vendor addon.

Once the import has finished, you will be able to select the new version of the vendor addon in the cluster image configuration.
