Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Snapshots of VMware Aria Automation (formerly vRealize Automation) 8.x virtual appliances are falsely reported as Not quiesced in vSphere UI.

  • The Quiesce guest file system will report as No within VMware vSphere.

Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 8.10.x
VMware vRealize Automation 8.x
VMware vRealize Automation 8.11.x
VMware Aria Automation 8.x
VMware vRealize Automation 8.9.x
VMware Aria Automation 8.12.x
VMware Aria Automation 8.13.x

Cause

The appliance-specific backup script, which synchronizes the filesystem freeze between the nodes and is run by VMTools before and after the snapshot is being taken, does not properly mark the snapshot as quiesced.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware Aria Automation 8.13.1.

Workaround:

You may ignore the UI showing that the snapshot is not quiesced.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

The user is unable to tell that the snapshot is quiesced, even though it is, given the operation succeeded and quiesce was selected.
