Issue/Introduction

This article provides instructions to collect a vRO appliance log bundle.

Note: This is not applicable for an embedded vRO 7.x instance hosted on a vRealize Automation 7.x appliance.

Symptoms:
  • Log bundle collection fails when performed from vRealize Orchestrator's (vRO) Control Center or virtual appliance management interface (VAMI).
  • The .zip file gets created with about 2 MB in size, but it does not include /var/log/vmware/vco/app-server/* logs.
  • Connection timed out error is seen.

Environment

VMware vRealize Orchestrator 7.1.x
VMware vRealize Orchestrator 7.3.x
VMware vRealize Orchestrator 7.2.x
VMware vRealize Orchestrator 7.5.x

Resolution

See the instructions below to generate a log bundle from command line:

  1. Log in to the vRO appliance through SSH Client.
  2. Navigate to /tmp location by running the command:

    cd /tmp

  3. Create a .tgz file by running this command:

    vamisupport

  4. Use WinSCP to take this file out and upload that to VMware FTP Server if you have an open SR.
