vRealize Orchestrator 8.x cluster root password update fails in vRSLCM with error code LCMVACONFIG80003 or LCMVROVACONFIG100025

Issue/Introduction

This article will assist in restoring a clustered vRO instance to a consistent state if:

• The vRO appliances do not have same root password
• The product admin password or the root password is expired on any of the appliances.

Symptoms:

• You have an installed and clustered instance of vRealize Orchestrator 8.8 managed with vRSLCM 8.x.
• A recent attempt to update the root password fails in vRSLCM with error code LCMVACONFIG80003 or LCMVROVACONFIG100025.

VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.8.x

Workaround:

Prerequisites

• Please take simultaneous non-memory snapshots of each virtual appliance(s) in the cluster.
• You have SSH or console access to each virtual appliance.

Procedure

Note: This procedure will restart vRO services and will incur downtime.

Follow the below steps on each vRealize Orchestrator node to update the root password.

1. SSH into the vRO appliance.
2. Run the following command and supply a new password

   passwd new_password

Note: new_password should be the same for all the vRO appliances.

3. Run the below command to sync the vRealize Orchestrator admin password with the root password of the nodes

   vracli vro sync-cc-password

4. Wait 5-10 minutes for synchronization to complete.
5. After vRO appliances are up and running, perform an inventory sync in vRSLCM.

Note: The inventory sync request created in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager is expected to fail as it will not have the new password details.

1. In the failed inventory sync request, enter the new password in the retry parameters and proceed.
