Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • SDK Connection to any vSphere endpoint shows
    https://x.x.x.x:443/sdk(unusable: com.vmware.cim.vmomi.core.exception.CertificateValidationException: Server certificate assertion not verified and thumbprint not matched

  • vRealize Orchestrator connection to a vCenter Server Instance is marked as unusable and the following error message is seen
    (unusable: com.vmware.vim.vmomi.client.exception.VmomiProtocolException: com.vmware.vim.vmomi.core.exception.UnmarshallException: Type 'ServiceContent' contains unrecognized property 'siteInfoManager')

  • Existing custom workflows or other workflows in vRO fail to execute with errors similar to
    vmodl.fault.InvalidType



Environment

VMware vRealize Orchestrator 8.12 - Latest Version Aria Orchestrator 8.17

Cause

  • vSphere APIs used by the vSphere vCenter Server Plug-in for vRealize Orchestrator can break after vSphere is upgraded.

  • Orchestrator loses certificate associated with top level root certificates , machine certificates, and vCenter certificates. 

Resolution

1. If not already, apply and Configuring the vCenter Server Plug-In

2. Check all connections used under Library > vCenter > Configuration 

3.  Run workflow to Update a vCenter instance
