Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • You are unable to re-use an IP address after a virtual machine is deleted and the IP is released.
  • You see errors similar to IP address x.x.x.x is already allocated to a different resource null
  • You are seeing multiple entries for the same IP address in Assembler > Infrastructure > Resources > Networks > IP Addresses
    • Some might show a Connected Resource of <deployment name>, or "Missing Resource" with a status of "Allocated"
    • Some might show a blank entry for Connected Resource with a status of "Unregistered"

Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 8.x
VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

This will occur when the value of the IP release timeout is left set to "false", which will not release IP addresses after deployments are deleted:

Resolution

Set an IP release timeout in Assembler > InfrastructureAdministration > Settings to a value from 0 to 30.

See the IP Addresses section located under Network resources in VMware Aria Automation
