How to change the IP address release wait period in VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • You are unable to re-use an IP address after a virtual machine is deleted and the IP is released.
  • You see errors similar to IP address x.x.x.x is already allocated to a different resource null


Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 8.x
VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

By default, the IP address release wait period is 30 minutes, which is significant enough for most use cases.

Resolution

Versions Prior to 8.12.x

In order to reduce the IP address release wait period which is set to 30 minutes by default, follow the below steps:

  1. Navigate to the Cloud Assembly > Infrastructure > Resources > Network > Click IP Addresses
    1. Configure Release Wait Period values under the Settings button in the top right corner.image.png
  2. Set the desired value.
  3. Click Save.

Versions 8.12 and Above

  • See the IP Addresses section located under Network resources in VMware Aria Automation
    • You can change the wait period by clicking Infrastructure > Administration > Settings and changing the IP release timeout value.
