Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When validating the vRealize Automation IaaS SQL Database using the Install Wizard, you experience these symptoms:

You see communication errors when trying to connect to the Microsoft SQL Server.

Windows Event Viewer System Logs:
A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 40. The Windows SChannel error state is 1205.

Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 7.4.x

Cause

The version of Microsoft SQL server you have installed is not compatible with TLS 1.2

Resolution

Upgrade the Microsoft SQL Server to a version that is compatible with TLS 1.2
