Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Cluster member nodes listed within the Cluster tab in vRealize Automation 7.x are displayed as "Clone_UUID"
  • Cluster member nodes are no longer updating "Last Connected" timestamp.
  • Each new Clone_UUID entry contains duplicates of existing IaaS components

Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 7.x

Cause

The issue may be caused if node(s) are cloned or renamed in vCenter after an outage.

Resolution

To resolve the issue:

  1. Identify the nodes with the oldest Last connected timestamp
  2. Confirm there is the same number of nodes named as "Clone_UUID" compared to FQDN of non-updated nodes.
  3. Confirm the "Clone_UUID" entries are updating Last Connected timestamp.
  4. Delete the nodes identified in Step 1 from the Cluster tab.
Note: The original FQDN named nodes that have not been updated should be the deleted values in step #4.

The "Clone_UUID" nodes should now be automatically renamed to the Fully Qualified Domain Name.

Should the VAMI delete function fail with the following error:  "Cannot remove the primary VA", the instructions located here: Remove a Node from the Distributed Deployment Information Table can be used to remove the entry.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
This issue is primarily UI related with no known negative functional impact to running vRealize Automation operations.
