Login banner message is not visible after upgrading to Aria Operations 8.12

Issue/Introduction

To outline the steps required to create a login banner message if affected by this HTML formatting issue.

Symptoms:

• The login message is no longer visible after upgrading to 8.12 if HTML formatting had previously being used to create the login message.
• The left side of this screenshot is after upgrading and before upgrading on the right side.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.12.x

Cause

• An issue has been identified where the HTML text is not visible in the login banner in certain circumstances.
• The login banner does not reset to default so if affected by this issue it is not possible to simply create a new banner message.
• HTML formatting has been removed from the banner configuration and will be added back in a future release.

Resolution

There is no resolution at this time, please follow the steps outlined in the workaround.

Workaround:

• Download and open the attached formattedText.htm file in a web browser.
• Opening the file you will notice one line and the 'Login Message' text.
• Copy the 'Login Message' text and paste it in the Content box when creating a login message in Aria Operation.
  • To create a Login Message go to Administration - Global Settings - User Access, scroll down to Enable and Edit the Login Message.
• Type the required login message in front of the 'Login Message' text and then delete the 'Login Message', this will ensure the HTML formatting is saved.
• Save the new message.
