Resolution
To install tcpdump on vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA):
Open an SSH session or console to your vCenter Server Appliance.
Install the tcpdump rpm package by running this command:
In VCSA 5.5:
/etc/gss-support/install.sh
or
sh /etc/gss-support/install.sh
In VCSA 6.0:
/etc/vmware/gss-support/install.sh
or
sh /etc/vmware/gss-support/install.sh
Use the installed tcpdump rpm package for troubleshooting.
After troubleshooting, uninstall the tcpdump rpm package by running this command:
In VCSA 5.5:
/etc/gss-support/uninstall.sh
or
sh /etc/gss-support/uninstall.sh
In VCSA 6.0:
/etc/vmware/gss-support/uninstall.sh
or
sh /etc/vmware/gss-support/uninstall.sh
In the VCSA 6.0 appliance, the path to these files is slightly different. You can find install.sh and uninstall.sh in the /etc/vmware/gss-support directory.
