Issue/Introduction

The above screenshot is the WARNING message displayed when the hosts/clusters are not upgraded, and you hover over the WARNING alerts from the NSX Edges.
This message is displayed from the vSphere Web Client - Networking and Security plugin > Installation and Upgrade > Upgrade.

Symptoms:
The NSX Upgrade coordinator has the WARNING message on Edges: "Fabric has not been updated for this cluster domain-cxxx and edges are hosted on this cluster. Some features might not be available until fabric is also upgraded."

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

  • Since Cluster/Host that the edge resides on has not been upgraded yet, the edges post warnings to ensure that the host are upgraded prior to upgrading the edge/DLR.
  • The reason for the WARNING message is to prevent the upgrade from proceeding out-of-order.

Resolution

  • The WARNING message indicates that the Cluster/Host has yet to be upgraded.
  • Follow the Upgrade Plan and DO NOT jump to upgrade the Edges directly. Upgrade Controllers and Hosts/Clusters before upgrading edges.
