"class java.lang.NullPointerException" when trying to view the vApps in an Organization VDC

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• In the Cloud director tenant portal, when viewing the vApps as per https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud-Director/10.3/VMware-Cloud-Director-Tenant-Portal-Guide/GUID-FAD6FC8C-D4C0-4887-9653-2369EED27EAC.html , the following error is displayed:

[UUID] class java.lang.NullPointerException

• In the /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs/vcloud-container-debug.log, entries as below are logged

 at com.vmware.vcloud.dl.net.vappnetwork.impl.VAppNetworkManagerImpl.getVAppNetworkSpec(VAppNetworkManagerImpl.java:1793)

Environment

VMware Cloud Director for Service Provider 10.x
VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This is a known issue affecting VMware Cloud director versions.

The Issue occurs when Cloud director is trying to retrieve the networks associated with the vApps and one or more of the Organization VDC network has the ip_scope_id value missing in the database.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please open a Support Request.

Database modifications are required to add the missing ip_scope_id and will require VMware Technical Support assistance.

Warning: A backup of the Cloud Director database must be taken before attempting to make any changes to it directly.
