Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• When deploying a vApp from a template to an Organization VDC in the same Organization local to the catalog fails with

class java.lang.NullPointerException

• In the Cloud director tenant portal, on the Libraries Tab > Under Content Libraries > vApp Templates > Select the template using the radio button > Choose Create vApp > Fill in the details > Next > Finish > Error: "class java.lang.NullPointerException".
• Within /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs/vcloud-container-debug.log, the following log snippet can be seen:
  • Error: at com.vmware.vcloud.management.query.CatalogItemVAppQueryListDataHibernateDao.createOperationFilterData(CatalogItemVAppQueryListDataHibernateDao.java:100)

Cause

The NullPointerException is triggered if one of the vApp Template records in the catalog has a missing catalog_item or catalog information.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware Cloud Director 10.3.
The issue is resolved in VMware Cloud Director 10.3.1, available at VMware Downloads.
