Issue/Introduction
Symptoms:
Virtual Machine(s) has the following warning message displayed in the UI:
VM not Compliant
The virtual machine(s) is/are part of the correct VM groups and satisfies the Placement policy applied.
The following message is displayed for the affected virtual machine(s):
Virtual machine is expected to be part of vm groups [VM-Group-1, VM-Group-2] as per its policy. It is currently part of only [VM-Group-1] vm groups.
The Organization VDCs where the virtual machines reside are backed by a multi-cluster Provider VDC.
Environment
VMware Cloud Director 10.x
Cause
This is a known issue affecting VMware Cloud Director versions 10.4 and 10.5.
The issue is caused due to a failed backend validation of the vmgroups which will in turn cause the message to be displayed in the UI.
Resolution
This issue will be resolved in a later release of Cloud Director. To be alerted when this article is updated, click Subscribe to Article in the Actions box.
Workaround: The VMs can be made compliant again by clicking the Make VM Compliant option in the UI.
