Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • vApps have runtime and storage leases set
  • Affected users have not changed the default preferences set for Send runtime lease alerts and Send storage lease alerts
  • Email notifications warning of vApp lease expiration approaching are not sent to vApp owners


Environment

VMware Cloud Director for Service Provider 9.7.x

Cause

This issue occurs if users have not changed their Preferences options for Send runtime lease alerts and Send storage lease alerts from the default option.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting vCloud Director for Service Providers 9.7.
This issue is resolved in vCloud Director for Service Providers 10, available at VMware Downloads.

Workaround:
To workaround this issue a user can change their Preferences for Send runtime lease alerts and Send storage lease alerts from the default option of 5 days to any other value:
  1. Log into the vCloud Director Flash UI as the user not receiving email notifications.
  2. In the title bar of the Web console, click Preferences.
  3. Click the Defaults tab.
  4. Set the number of days or hours for Send runtime lease alerts to any value other than 5 days before expiration to receive email notifications, for example set it to 1 day before expiration.
  5. Set the number of days or hours for Send runtime lease alerts to any value other than 5 days before expiration to receive email notifications, for example set it to 1 day before expiration.
  6. Click OK to apply the change.
  7. Users will now receive emails notifying them of lease expiration as per the set preference.
