Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • During an upgrade from VMware Cloud Director 10.4 to version 10.4.1, upgrading a Standby Cell fails
  • On the Standby Cell, an error related to upgrading PostgreSQL or Repmgr can be found in the upgrade logs /opt/vmware/var/log/vami/updatecli.log:
Upgrading Postgres database and/or Repmgr and Converting Certificates, if needed
ERROR: Postgres or Repmgr upgrade failed. For more details, see /opt/vmware/var/log/vcd/update-postgres-db.log.
  • On the Standby Cell, errors related to connection to database failed can be found in /opt/vmware/var/log/vcd/update-postgres-db.log:
ERROR: connection to database failed
DETAIL:
connection to server at "primary node ip", port 5432 failed: could not initiate GSSAPI security context: Unspecified GSS failure.
Minor code may provide more information: No Kerberos credentials available
connection to server at "primary node ip", port 5432 failed: timeout expired
