Issue/Introduction

  • "x.x.x.x is not a valid IPv6 address" error when setting a VM NIC with an IP mode as static manual.
  • IPv6 error encountered when modifying a VM NIC.
  • Cannot modify IPv6 address when editing a VM NIC.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.3.x

Resolution

The issue is resolved in VMware Cloud Director 10.3.3, available at VMware Downloads.

If you cannot upgrade to Cloud Director 10.3.3 or above, please use the workaround specified in the Workaround section.

Workaround:

  1. Log into the tenant portal.
  2. Click on the Data Centers tab and choose the required Data Center.
  3. Click on Virtual Machines.
  4. Click on the the virtual machine.
  5. Click on the NICs tab.
  6. Click the Edit button.
  7. On the drop down menu for the IP Mode select Static - IP Pool
  8. Change the drop down menu for the IP Mode to Static - Manual 
  9. Populate the IP.
  10. Click Save.
