Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Only imported or discovered VMs show that the network is disconnected in the VCD UI after import into Cloud Director.
  • This happens both before the VM is powered on and after the VM is powered on.
  • This affects all types of imported VMs.
  • All copy/move options specified during the import are affected.


Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This is a known issue affecting Cloud Director 10.2.x versions.

Resolution

The issue is resolved in Cloud Director 10.2.2.1, available at VMware Downloads and 10.3, also available at VMware Downloads.

If you cannot upgrade to Cloud Director 10.2.2.1, 10.3 or above, please use the Workaround specified in the Workaround section.

Workaround:
The workaround is to edit the network settings and connect the NIC again.
  1. Open the tenant portal.
  2. Click on the Data Centers tab and choose the required Data Center.
  3. Click on Virtual Machines.
  4. Click on the the virtual machine.
  5. Click on the NICs tab.
  6. Click the Edit button.
  7. Uncheck the Connected check box.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Click Edit again.
  10. Click the Connected check box.
  11. Click Save.
