Issue/Introduction

  • Attempting to delete an Edge Gateway in Cloud Director fails with an error:
Edge gateway <name> has Org VDC networks attached to it. Please delete the networks before attempting to delete the edge gateway
  • Same error is prompted while deleting an Organization Virtual Datacenter as well.
  • The NSX-V Edge Gateway failed to enable or disable Distributed Routing in the past.
  • The networks associated with the Edge Gateway have already been deleted.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x
VMware NSX for vSphere

Cause

This issue can occur if Distributed Routing was not enabled or disabled successfully on the Edge Gateway to be deleted.

Resolution

On the Tenant or Provider portal, Enable and then Disable Distributed routing on the Edge which the error complains about.
Once the tasks complete re-attempt the deletion of the Organization VDC or Edge in question.

If the issue still persists, contact Broadcom Support and note this Article ID (325525) in the problem description. For more information, see Creating and managing Broadcom support cases.

Additional Information

For more information on Distributed Routing on NSX-V Edge Gateways see the Cloud Director documentation, Activate or Deactivate Distributed Routing on an Edge Gateway.
