How to move Media files across datastore(s) in a SDRS cluster in Cloud Director.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Moving Media type Catalog items backed by ISO files across datastore(s) in a SDRS cluster in Cloud Director.
• The Media items are to be moved to another datastore(s) in the same SDRS cluster as their current datastore.
• Placing the datastore in Maintenance Mode in vSphere does not cause Media items to be migrated.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Resolution

1. Login into the vSphere portal for the vCenter where the datastores managed by Cloud Director are located.
2. Click on the Menu and choose Storage.
3. Select the Datastore(s) where the Media items are located.
4. Drag and drop the datastore outside of the datastore cluster which will result in it being standalone and no longer part of the SDRS datastore cluster.
5. Login into the Cloud Director provider portal.
6. On the Infrastructure Resources tab, click the Storage Containers tab.
7. Select the Storage Container to migrate, the same datastore which was moved out of the SDRS datastore cluster in vSphere.
8. Click on MIGRATE TENANT STORAGE.
9. Select all the Organizations to Migrate, these are the Organizations with Catalogs where the Media items are located.
10. Click Next.
11. Select Source Datastores.
12. Click Next.
13. Select Destination Datastores.
14. Click Finish.
