Issue/Introduction

When executing IDMSDBN2, can SYS002 be assigned to TAPE versus DISK?

Attempting to execute a DBAN process against an area that in DBN2 gets an x37 abend on SYS002.
Increasing the allocation for SYS002 consistently gets the x37 abend.
Changing SYS002 to a tape file, the job runs for a period of time but then abends with S7CE.

IECTMS3 DDD, bbbbbb IS NOT SCRATCH(XX)

where XX is 64, trying to recreate a data set with DISP=NEW.

Cause

IDMSDBN2 reuses the SYS002 dataset numerous times. It will write information to it, close it, reread that information, and potentially repeat that process.

Resolution

Pre-allocating the tape file for use as SYS002 by IDMSDBN2 worked.
