Deploying NSX controller fails with the error: copying ovf operation failed on VC

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Deploying NSX controller fails with the error:
  copying ovf operation failed on VC. For more details, refer to the rootCauseString or the VC logs".
   
• In the NSX Manager vsm.log file, you see entries similar to:
  
  Caused by: java.net.UnknownHostException: hq-esx-xx-xx
  at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source)
  at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source)
  at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source)
  at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source)

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.3.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x

Cause

This issue occurs when NSX Manager is unable to resolve the hostname.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure the DNS on NSX Manager to resolve the host name. For more information, see the NSX Troubleshooting Guide.
