MAC address is not retained when exporting the OVF template.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• MAC address should be retained in the OVF template by selecting [Include MAC addresses] when the OVF template is exported.
• But the MAC address is not retained, even though [Include MAC addresses] is selected when exporting the OVF template.
• The MAC address is not retained when the OVF template is exported by using vSphere Web Client 6.5.

 

 

Environment

VMware vSphere Web Client 6.5.x

Cause

This is a known issue affecting vSphere Web Client.

Resolution

To workaround the issue, use ovftool and export the OVF template with the MAC address retained by running the command:

ovftool.exe –exportFlags=mac vi://＜vCenterServerUserName＞:＜vCenterServerPassword＞@＜vCenterServerFQDN＞/＜DataCenter＞/vm/＜VirtualMachineName＞ ＜ExportFolder＞\＜OVFName＞.ovf
