NSX-v Manager does not auto-update Syslog Server after changing the A record of Syslog server

Issue/Introduction

After re-pointing the A record of a remote syslog server from an existing IP address to a new IP address:

• NSX Manager still sends logs to the old IP address.
• FQDN successfully resolves to the new IP address.

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

DNS changes are external to the NSX Manager environment, so the changes does not get auto-updated in the NSX environment.

Resolution

This is as per the design.

To work around this issue:

1. Log in to the NSX Manager virtual appliance.
2. From the home page, Click Manage Appliance Settings > General.
3. Click Edit next to Syslog Server.
4. Click OK.
