VM fails to power on with "vSphere HA detected an HA cluster state version inconsistency in cluster"

Issue/Introduction

• Power on of VMs fail with "The virtual machine was not compatible with host (...) The host is reporting errors in its attempts to provide vSphere HA support. - The host is reporting errors in its attempts to provide vSphere HA support."
• This error occurs both from power on triggered from vCloud Director or vCenter

 

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Cause

If hosts are not prepared to HA this will create incompatibilities with some features such VM Monitoring

Not having HA enabled, in this case will cause the error seen  

Resolution

• Re-configure vSphere HA ,  Disabling and enabling VMware High Availability (HA)
