The error "The Selected Object is not applicable." may appear when generating or scheduling a report in the Aria Operations UI.

Issue/Introduction

This happens if you select an incorrect object type in the "Select an Object" window pane during the configuration of a scheduled report or while manually generating a report

Environment

VMware Aria Operations (formerly known as vRealize Operations) 8.x

Resolution

To resolve this issue, check the views used in the report and ensure you select the correct object type when scheduling or generating the report.

Example:

For any existing report, which uses replication-type objects in the views & if you select "All Objects" -> "vCenter" in the "Select an Object" window pane, its errors "The Selected Object is not applicable."

This issue can be resolved by selecting the appropriate object type, such as "vSphere Replication Adapter" -> "Replication vCenter Server," when scheduling or generating the report.
