TSS9040W SECURITY FILE ENCRYPT despite the crypt key and secfile key are in sync.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms: 

We have started a new lpar with CA Top Secret. We have just an empty security file and the VSAMFILE.

At the start up of CA Top Secret, the message is issued:

 

*TSS9040W SECURITY FILE ENCRYPTION UNAVAILABLE

 

Also when TSSXTEND is used to copy to new security files specifying:

 

COPY SECURITY

OLDKEY=****************

NEWKEY=****************

 

the following is issued:

 

SECURITY FILE ENCRYPTION UNAVAILABLE

CUSTOMER KEY REQUIRED TO LOCK FILE

 

The TSSKTPRC module in TSSMNGR4 has been modify with the encryption key.

 

 

Environment:

 

z/OS 2.1 - TSS 15 SP00 

 

Cause:

 

All of the digits of the encryption key were identical

 

 

Resolution:

 

The first half of the encryption key cannot match the second half of the encryption key. If it does, TSS9040W is issued.
