Issue/Introduction

To provide the steps to verify if the virtual machine DRS or HA overrides are preventing Hybrid Migration with vMotion.

Symptoms:
Attempting to migrate a virtual machine from the On-Premise vCenter to the VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC on AWS) vCenter after configuring Hybrid Linked Mode (HLM) fails with: "Permission to perform this operation is denied"

Cause

The hybrid migration of virtual machines with DRS or HA overrides is not supported.

Resolution

Verify if the on-premise virtual machines have any DRS or HA overrides enabled.
To review the individual virtual machine customization, follow this process: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.5/com.vmware.vsphere.avail.doc/GUID-CFD74742-26EA-4BED-A4FC-4E8F50A46C83.html
If any DRS or HA overrides are added, these will need to be removed before Hybrid Migration with vMotion will be successful.
