"No NSX Manager available" error with NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.6

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.6 is used.
  • The User Interface (UI) including the Firewall and Logical Switches panel displays an error similar to:

    No NSX Manager available. Verify current user has role assigned on NSX Manager.
     
  • REST API calls to NSX Manager are working, some APIs may take more time to load.
  • NSX Manager high CPU usage.
  • In the /usr/nsx-webserver/logs/localhost_access_log file, you see entries similar to:

Environment

VMware NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.x

Cause

This issue occurs due a software defect that involves existing logging jar files that are no longer being used.
After reboot, the system is randomly picking one of the old logging jar files and when this happens.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware NSX Data Center 6.4.6.

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.8, available at VMware Downloads .

Workaround:
To work around this issue, contact VMware Support and file a Support Request (refer to KB article "How to file a Support Request in Customer Connect" https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2006985).
