Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
One IP address shows up as unknown client in Policy Topology User Interface (VM view), but that IP address actually belongs to one of the known VMs in the domain.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 2.x

Cause

This issue occurs because the data collection module in host only sends PRE_CONNECT(TCP session establish event) event for client to server communication (For example: TCP connection from Application VM to DB VM) in some scenario and backend did not support this type event. This will happen when VM installs the latest version of VMware Tools.(version >= 10.3.0)

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX-T Data Center 2.4, available at VMware Downloads.

Workaround:
To work around this issue, ensure that the installed version of the VMware Tools is 10.2.5 or older.
