Resolution

Bridged networking with a wireless Ethernet adapter is supported in VMware Workstation 4 and later. If you are using older versions of these VMware products, you may want to upgrade to the latest version of Workstation to gain this capability.

If your host has a wireless network adapter, you cannot use bridged networking on Linux hosts in VMware Workstation 5 or lower and any hosts in VMware Workstation 3 or lower,. Under these products, if you want to run virtual machines on a host that uses wireless Ethernet adapters, you must configure your virtual machines to use NAT or host-only networking.

Note: Support for bridged networking does not guarantee that the virtual machine can successfully receive an IP address. IP addressing depends on the DHCP server. For more information about the networking types, see Understanding networking types in hosted products (1006480).
