This article provides steps for determining the build number of vSphere PowerCLI or VI Toolkit for Windows running in your environment.

Environment

• VMware ESXi 4.0.x Embedded
• VMware ESX 4.0.x
• VMware ESXi 4.0.x Installable
• VMware ESX Server 3.5.x
• VMware ESXi 3.5.x Embedded
• VMware ESXi 3.5.x Installable

Resolution

To determine the build number:

1. Launch vSphere PowerCLI | VI Toolkit for Windows.
2. Run the following command to retrieve the build number:
   
   Get-VIToolkitVersion

The output appears similar to:

PS C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\VIToolkitForWindows> Get-VIToolkitVersion
