Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • When VDDK 6.0 and vCenter server 6.0 are installed on same machine, library related issues are observed.
  • This issue does not appear when they are installed on separate machines.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
Virtual Disk Development Kit 6.0

Cause

The Virtual Disk Deployment Kit (VDDK) and vCenter Server each ships different versions of the libldap_r.dll and liblber.dll. This can cause unexpected behavior running calls from the VDDK.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VDDK 6.0.

Currently, there is no resolution.

To work around this issue, use one of these options:
  • Install vCenter Server and VDDK on separate machines.
  • Copy the dll files libldap_r.dll and liblber.dll installed with VDDK from the \VMware\VixDiskLib\bin\ directory to the directory were the backup executable is being ran.
