Dependent hardware iscsi adapter does not support boot from an iSCSI SAN

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
ESXi hosts can boot from an iSCSI SAN using the software iSCSI adapters and network adapters. Dependent hardware iSCSI adapter does not support boot from an iSCSI SAN.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.7
VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

Boot LUN device cannot be accessed by dependent hardware iSCSI adapter. It cannot deploy ESXi and boot from the iSCSI SAN by dependent hardware iSCSI adapter.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, use software iSCSI adapters and network adapters for iSCSI boot from SAN work.
