Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
In environment where there are more than 100 scheduled tasks, vSphere Update Manager may display Last Download Date or Next Download Date as n/a in both these locations:
  • Update Manager > Updates > Patch Downloads card
  • Update Manager > Settings > Patch Downloads > Patch Downloads card


Environment

VMware vSphere 7.0.x
VMware vSphere 6.5.x
VMware vSphere 6.7.x

Cause

The logic that searches for the predefined scheduled task called "VMware vSphere Update Manager Update Download" which downloads software updates is not able to find it as it is searching through the first 100 scheduled tasks only.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vSphere versions 6.5, 6.7, and 7.0. 
Currently, there is no resolution.

Workaround:
To work around this issue, use one of these options:
  • Reduce the number of scheduled tasks to 100 or less.
OR
  • Search for task named "VMware vSphere Update Manager Update Download" in vCenter > Configure > More > Scheduled Tasks and see "Last Run" and "Next Run".
