Issue/Introduction

Question:

How often should a VM:Tape TMC be backed up? 

 

Answer:

It is a best practice to backup your VM:Tape TMC every day using the VMTBKP utility.  We recommend initiating the backup immediately after completion of your production system backups.

 

Additional Information:

Use the VMTBKP utility to back up the TMC and reinitialize the Audit file. Backing up the TMC provides protection against loss of TMC data if there are DASD hardware failures. Reinitializing the Audit file prevents the Audit file minidisk from filling.
