Mouse pointer is not working on VMware vSphere Web Client

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • After launching X Server in RHEL6.5, the mouse pointer does not work within the virtual machine console window.
  • When you hover the mouse on console of the local machine, the mouse pointer disappears.
  • Right-click options do not work.
  • Issue persists even after restarting WebClient service/ using a different browser.


Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0

Cause

This issue occurs because the virtual mouse driver and video driver bundled with the OS are not installed in the OS.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following drivers (included in RHEL65) in the OS: 
  • X.Org X11 input drivers: xorg-x11-drv-vmmouse-xx.x.x-xx.xxx.x86_64.rpm
  • X.Org X11 vmware video driver: xorg-x11-drv-vmware-xx.x.x-x.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.el6.x86_64.rpm


Additional Information

The mouse pointer does not function properly in the VMware vSphere Web Client HTML5 virtual machine console
