Issue/Introduction
Symptoms: The vmkernel.log file (located at /var/log in ESXi 5.x and /var/log/messages in ESXi 4.x) contains entries similar to:

This warning message can occur if the virtual machine name combined with the port ID exceed 32 characters. For example:
Name: vm-testdevenv-02.abc.test.com.eth1 Port ID: 0x300000c
In this example, the combined length is 43 characters, which exceeds the 32 character limit. The warning message indicates that part of the name is truncated. It can occur if you are using any VMXNET series of virtual adapter, including VMXNET3.
Resolution
This warning message is harmless and can be safely ignored.
