ESXi does not get detected for a newly installed server

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Host does not boot into ESXi hypervisor on a new Dell Server.
• You see an error:

Booting from Embedded SATA Port DiskJ: EFI fixed Disk Boot Device 1 You have ordered a Dell System with no OS installed. If you have ordered direct attached 3TB or larger drives, please be aware that not all OS's have support of these larger drives. Please consult the following blog for support levels for various OS's and choose your OS to install accordingly. http://dell.to/1ggC5Jy"

• Changing the BIOS to legacy mode or UEFI does not resolve the issue.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

1. Install ESXi on the host.
2. Change the BIOS to UEFI mode.
3. Disable all the boot device except the integrated storage controller.
4. Boot the host to ESXi.
