SD-WAN Edge goes offline intermittently if Analytics is enabled

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

On Edge devices with Analytics (Edge Network Intelligence) enabled and running releases 4.5.1, 5.0.1, 5.1.0, or below, the following symptoms are observed:

 

  • The VCE loses communication with VCO and is marked offline intermittently along with Edge up/Edge down Events:

  • VCO displays Events showing the WAN links flapping simultaneously at random intervals:

  • Diagnostic Bundle generation failures:

  • Failures to complete Software Downloads during Edge upgrades.


Environment

VMware SD-WAN

Cause

This is a known issue caused by 98223.

Resolution

Fixed in VMware SD-WAN™ Edge Versions 4.5.2, 5.2.0. 

To upgrade:
  1. Temporarily disable Edge Analytics first.
  2. Wait for the edge to reestablish connection to the orchestrator
  3. Upgrade the edge to a fixed version
  4. Re-enable analytics.


Workaround:
To work around this issue if you do not want to upgrade, disable the Edge Analytics.

Enable or Disable Analytics (Edge Network Intelligence) causes a service restart of the SD-WAN Edge.
