Unable to increase rx ring buffer on ixgben driver

• unable to increase rx ring buffer size for ixgben driver with "ethtool --G rx 4096" command
• unable to increase rx ring buffer size for ixgben driver with "esxcli network nic ring current set" command
  
  
  

Environment

VMware Vsphere ESXI 

Resolution

Use the following command to increase rx ring buffer:

esxcfg-module -s “RxDesc=8192” ixgben

Reboot ESXi host to apply the change.



Note: These changes impact network adapter performance and must be validated by the hardware vendor who supplies the network adapter.
