Issue/Introduction

Purpose of this knowledge base article is to identify the issue seen and list workaround steps on how to fix it.

Symptoms:

SDDC Type for VMs and VC Manager is seen as ONPREM even though the VMware Cloud Type is shown as AWS.

How to Identify? 
No logs are available.

Search in vRNI using the below GUI query: 

VC Manager where SDDC Type = 'ONPREM' and VMware Cloud Type is set

If this query returns some results. Then this customer deployment has the issue.


Environment

VMware vRealize Network Insight 6.9.0
VMware vRealize Network Insight 6.x

Cause

Resolution

No Fix is required. 
vRNI version 6.10 Upgrade will restart the collector service for all customers and this should get fixed. 


Workaround:
 To workaround this issue, restart the collector service on the Collector VM where the VMC VC datasource is added. 
 Steps below:

1.Take a putty/SSH session to associated collector VM. 
2. Login using username support
3. Type ub to switch to ubuntu user
4. Run below commands

ubuntu@vrni-proxy-release:~$ cd build-target/collector
ubuntu@vrni-proxy-release:~/build-target/collector$ ./stop-collector.sh

Running above command will stop collector service and restart it automatically
5.Search in vRNI using the below GUI query: 

VC Manager where SDDC Type = 'ONPREM' and VMware Cloud Type is set

Above query now should not returns any results.
